My Croton Rina one week apart - my Croton began to drop leaves in the lead up to me repotting it. The stem of the leaves connecting to the main body of the plant began to go soft/almost mushy, and they were easily snapped off. I repotted the plant and checked for root rot however the roots are strong and appear very happy. The plant is now just the stem with strong roots. What can I do to try and save this plant? I currently have it by my front door under some shade facing South-East. I’m in Victoria, Australia, so have just started Spring. New to taking plants seriously and really want to save this guy if I can!

I have a croton that did the same thing! I put in a smaller pot like you did and gave lots of light with a grow light 8-12 hrs / day. I also put a plastic bag over the top that had a few ~2 a 3 cm cuts for air flow and sealed it with a band around the pot. This helped increase humidity. This was about 4 week ago but my stem got greener and a few buds started appearing last week 🥰 hope this helps with your croton, too!

Thank you so much for your reply. I will increase humidity to this guy and hopefully encourage new growth!

Need more light, these can be acclimated to full sun. I have mine under a grow light 12 hrs a day.

This is all correct as I have mines out on the porch with morning sun and since intense sun in Texas can damage plants I give it the partial shade it needs with a direct hit in the afternoon..
