Hi! My mom planted hostas in her garden, but unfortunately they have been eaten by deer. Does anyone know any good deer repellents that will not harm the plants? I’m open to other suggestions also.

My parents put chicken wire around their hosta and day lily garden. Not very pretty to look at though. I don’t think they’ve tried any repellents for some reason. But the common one at my local garden center is Bonide “Go Away.” And the outdoor sporting goods stores have coyote urine, but buyer beware on the smell of that one wheweeee 🤢😂

いいね 1件I would suggest planting deer resistant plants around the hostas as a way of naturally keeping them away. I found it works for my garden!

this is a great tip. my dad has a vegetable garden that’s a bit more than half an acre, and there’s always a border of squash and other gourds to keep the deer out of the tender leafed vegetables. it’s been working well for him the past 10 years in combination with a 6ft chain link fence. (easily jump-able for a deer but they usually don’t want to land in a pumpkin patch lol)

Ohhhhh! 😮 You two are clever! I’ll have to pass that one on to my folks for their shade gardens and vegetable field
いいね 1件Irish Spring soap works. You have to reapply after it rains.
