Are these seeds at the end of my orchid’s root? My dad gave me a very neglected orchid (as in just following the “one ice cube a week” rule) and since I’ve taken it this new root has shot out and is developing these balls at the end.

Look in the soil there’s usually a foam thing take it out it kills orchids and prune the flower stalk halfway to help the plant bloom next time

Agree with Dishsoap, it’s a flower stalk. If you can, pin it to the stick with the clip so it’s facing upwards. They are ready to bloom.

It looks like your orchid could use a little maintenance and TLC. Whether you remove the flower stalk or not will not make a huge difference although he's right it would allow more energy to go in to the leaves and roots. I would wait until spring until you do a replanting. There are lots of YouTube videos on how to accomplish this. Instead of trying to go into a lot of detail I will suggest that you go to one of the many good YouTubes to check things out. I have watched several videos from happiness garden especially the ones relating to 'just garlic'.

There’s an orchid group on here that’s really helpful! I would personally move away from ice cubes and back towards proper watering- orchids in the wild are more tropical and the ice can sometimes cause shock

While some people swear by the ice method I would have to agree that a more traditional watering method would be more appropriate.

Guys I am happy to report that we have a flower with a few more soon to come! I looked more into proper growing medium and was shocked at the difference between what it should be in and what it came to me in. This is my first ever plant to grow flowers about one year into my journey of plant ownership, I am just delighted!
