Hello! I have a baby orchid that I bought from the store. It was being suffocated by the way they planted it (no air, too much mulch etc.) I found it loves being like this, but am not sure it’s a good long term solution. How would I go about transferring it to bark like the orchid behind it?

I would give the orchid bark a good soak on transfer day to ensure moisture for the first week so it acclimates to the new medium and then let it dry out like orchids cycles normally do.

You could give the ole Leca a try until it produces a larger root system, then once it’s decently established there you can move it to orchid bark. Some plants are picky though and only like one thing even though the species generally does well another way. You might have one that loves semi hydro, maybe it likes full hydro.

I agree ole leca is a good start usually they don’t like being in water long term but yours might!

you can try beginning to give it wet/dry cycles. soak for a good 20 minutes, then back into an empty glass so you can see when the roots turn silver next. reduces shock and encourages more root growth to prepare it for medium
