Hey guys, I’ve noticed the soil in my pot is getting really dry and chunky lately. I’m watering it as often as the app says but it just doesn’t sit right with me. Any advice would help 😭🙏 She has been re-potted at least one and we started to re pot it again but as we were transferring it we noticed the new pot didn’t have draining holes and put it back.

Try carefully removing the plant from the pot (try to not rip roots), and turn the soil into mud with a clay-like consistency. Add some texturing (tiny pebbles) to the moist soil, so it keeps it shape. Add some of the newly moistened soil on the bottom, place your plant on top, and keep on layering the soil until the plant is covered. Pack the soil down after finished layering in order to keep the plant upright in wet soil.

The app will kill your plants if you strictly follow it without checking the dryness level. Your instincts are usually right. Verify the wetness level and hold off watering if the soil is still wet. Water if it’s completely dry to the bottom even if the app says it’s not time to water. The plant not the app tells you when it needs water. The app doesn’t know your specific environment that affects the speed at which the soil dries out.

Okay, I have been trying not to over water it but also not have it completely dry. I’ll try what the upper comment says and hope that it helps. I think it needs a bigger pot and that has definitely been delaying my process of fixing this problem.
