Both
0 Me gustaI usually toss it?? Especially if I havenāt repotted in a long long time.
0 Me gustaIt's not necessary. If it's older you can just add amendments like compost any mycology/beneficial bacteria

Kinda depends on the situation, how much I care about the plant Iām potting into the used soil, etc. Generally, if the soil has been used for a year or longer, I will pitch it. If the soil smells moldy (youāll know the smell), I definitely pitch it. But if itās only a little bit of soil that I used to propagate a plant for short time, Iāll find a way to keep it.
1 me gustaIf there's another plant (or the same plant) that I need to replant, I'll try to reuse soil. If not, I throw it into the low spot we have in the back yard š

I put my used house plant soil on our compost pile and it will get used in the vegetable garden and flower beds outside.
