Hi all! A couple questions. My orchid is completely in orchid bark. How often do you water your orchids? I’m afraid i had overwatered mine. One of the leaves turned yellow and it has some drooping flowers. Not sure if it just is losing its flowering after being flowered for a while tho!

The best indicator with orchids are their roots. When they’re bright green it doesn’t need water. The top arial roots will turn a silver green first then once the bottom roots are turning silver it’s ready for water. Obviously a clear container is best. Mine also has lots of holes that I poked into it with a hot glue gun lol. When you water it place in a bowl and pour water through the container. Allow it to sit in the water until the roots are bright green again.

I have mine completely potted in orchid bark as well, but I also lose track of when I should water so I put a top layer of sphagnum moss just so I can tell if she is completely dry and ready for a watering!

Silver roots, water. Green roots, don’t water. Orchids are tropical plants so I always use room temp or lukewarm water when watering. 😌

I wouldn’t worry about losing a bottom leaf, that’s normal! Every so often they will drop a bottom leaf, if it’s a top leaf then you might have issues
