Welcome to the plant community! I’ve got a few of these guys, and in my experience they kinda just do that. The stems that are green look very healthy, so as long as they continue to look good I wouldn’t worry too much about it. These fellas drop and grow leaves faster than any plant I’ve ever had. You can’t miss a watering with them or they start ditching leaves. That said they are very hardy and easy to keep alive, just prone to looking crusty. Easy to keep alive, hard to make look good. They drink more water than you would think, so really make sure the soil never dries out. Also, the leaves don’t really age well, and they are very prone to having bald stems with a few leaves at the ends. I would recommend cutting and propping the stems more often to avoid that. They need the cutting anyway or they tend to grow in a single stem. cutting can increase the number of vines off the original stem. They prop very easily, you really can’t mess it up. You can replant the prop in the original pot to make it fuller looking since these are kinda leggy plants, or put it in a different pot and have two! They’re super dramatic, so if you wake up and a leaf is completely dry and brown don’t worry, they grow leaves incredibly fast. Just keep an eye on it and as long as there are more green than brown leaves you should be fine! If the stems start withering, then there’s a problem. For your plant I would say just focus on the stems that are healthy, they often give up on stems. You can’t see it but the plant in the bird cage has a lot of dead stems in it. They can handle a fair amount of variation in light conditions, from full sun to part shade, although I’ve noticed they do better with bright, indirect light. I really cannot stress this enough, water often, especially during the hot months. These are not drought resistant plants. I water a little more often than the app tells you to, and two of them are just sitting in bowls of water. Leaving them in water does risk root rot, but honestly I’ve been doing it for years and it’s never been a problem. Let me know if you need any more help or clarification. This was actually the first plant I ever bought myself and I’ve had it for a while now. Good luck with your plant!
