i’ve never tried it but i have seen both ways. some people say they need to have water roots before the can go into leca, other people say they can grow them while in leca you just have to keep an eye on the soil roots so they don’t rot

I have a few Alocasias and I have a mix of leca, tropical plant soil (just the miracle grow mix), perlite, and orchid bark. There’s a few other things… what’s the water and sun schedule like

I’ve just done this as well (last weekend). The Leca Queen on YouTube has a TON of info. She also has a Facebook. I’m already thinking of pulling one (that really didn’t have a lot of roots, but the corm looked good). I think I might put in a prop box and try to grow some of the roots in moss first.
