Would someone know why my ponytail palms leaves are always brown at the ends? And what do I do about the brown knob?

The brown knob is the plastic/wax used to seal the cut edge. This prevents bacteria and insects from invading the inner core of the tree. The dry could be insufficient water if they are dry and crispy as they brown. It could be overwatering if they are brown, soft and pliable as they die off.
1 me gustaI would let the soil completely dry out. Verify with a chopstick or meat skewer that the soil is dry to the bottom of the pot. Then, bottom water in a pan of water until the top soil is moist. Drain completely. The trunk holds excess water. So, it’s important to let the soil dry completely before watering. Fertilize in the growing season. They like full direct sunlight once they acclimate to it.
1 me gustaNot sure if this is the answer but when my dracena leaf edges were brown and crispy I changed to always watering with cooled boiled water. No more brown edges!
