I pruned my pothos to root some cuttings to fill in the top of the pot some more. Those cuttings are now ready to be planted in soil but I have never put cuttings into a pot that already a plant. Any tips?

If you’re going straight from water to soil then keep it more watered than usual for the first week or two
2 Me gustaThe roots will have to adapt to the new environment and it’ll be easier if you keep it closer to what they grew in
2 Me gustaI’m a recent Pothos (marble queen) parent so I’m new to this too but I’ve heard of a method where you add a little soil to the propagation water over a period of time to acclimatise the roots so when you finally pot into soil it’s not such a shock to your plant. I haven’t tried this method but it’s one I’m going to try with my Pothos props. I’m also going to try just poking a hole in the soil and shoving the prop in there. I’ve heard they’re pretty resilient.
3 Me gustaI might be misunderstanding based on these comments but it sounds like you want to add the rooted cuttings back into the mother plant’s pot, right? if that’s the case, i just poke around with my fingers/hands and gently dig out a spot and drop them in. the tips for shock are good, but my experience with pothos is that you won’t have a problem going from water straight to soil
0 Me gustaYes that is what I am looking to do. I’m afraid of messing up the mother plant on it also grew really well and should be really well established as it’s been over a year since it was put in a pot from the originally cuttings I had.
0 Me gustayou won’t mess it up — they’re hardy and if you damage a few of the mother plants roots in the process it will be ok
