I’m wondering how to properly cut this succulent down and replant it without killing it. It is too tall that it falls over and the bottom of the stem has no leaves on it

More sunlight! Succulents reach and stretch when they aren’t getting enough light. It’s called Etiolation if you want to look into it more.

I’ve had these before and the leaves will root in damp soil and start a new plant. I would assume you could top cut and it would do the same but I’m not sure. I would just experiment before you chop it.

There’s a succulent/cacti group on here that might be of better help!

You should be able to see rings on your stem? Cut between any of those, they are the plants nodes. Let it callous over really well and then put into your prop medium of choice. You want to cut so it has at least 5-7 nodes, but honestly I’d cut it more based on the size of plant I want left in my pot. Which could make the prop have a lot more nodes (not a bad thing!). The original plant should put out new shoots over time, just make sure its getting lots of light. You can also leaf prop, but that will just take a much longer time to get to a mature plant.

Succulents are super simple, you can just pop the leaves off and drop the on some soil, or cut sections and do it that way. It’ll take forever but you’ll eventually get new babies from any part of the mother plant. The main reason it’s growing long like that is it needs alot more sunlight. It’s called Etiolation, you’ll be able to research some more as well.

Really if you want to save the overall plant you could start by just cutting a little below the bottom leaves and resticking the stem in the pot. Don’t overwater and it’ll grow roots from the cut portion
