Hi! I have an asparagus fern that I got about three months ago. It has never been repotted. My plant has been growing slowly, but every new growth seems to go yellow or brown within a day or two. It currently sits on a plant stand opposite a window with indirect sunlight. I haven’t fed it with fertiliser yet. I am aware it’s part of the lily family, so is there a specific fertiliser I should look for? Any advice on how to help my asparagus fern thrive, and what I may be doing wrong would be great. Thank you.

    Could be humidity is off. watering issue. Dry air. Could be the type of water you’re using. Ofc I don’t actually know tho 🤷‍♀️

      I’ve been using quite high mineral content water. I can’t use this for some of my plants because it kills them, so I’m wondering if this is the same.

    Mine survived in dry Midwest air for over a year, became massive, then slowly did this. I just cut her all the way back and some new growth is coming back.

    I have two beautiful and thriving asparagus ferns, I put them in this app and care for them per Planta instructions for watering and changing my jobes plant spikes for non flowering houseplants. One is hanging with no direct light and the other is in a dark corner with a grow light a few hours a week. I use humidifiers to keep the room humidity about 50%.

    My guess is it needs more light. Put it close to the window so the top of the pot is getting light

    Hippie BoB has always stayed outside and I water him with well water. I cluster him with the other kids for added humidity and added a balanced fertilizer a few months ago for root health. I find natural elements like rain water and fresh air to be most beneficial. Yours doesn’t have to live outside, but I think a field trip isn’t a terrible idea to see how he reacts. I’m new to plants but am finding that each one has their own preferences. Like parenthood, it’s mostly trial and error lol.

    These are my two varieties. They would drink water from a fire hose if I could get one to them! They turn brown on the ends when they are thirsty. They also love outside and lots of sun all summer. When they come in next week, I will put them somewhere that’s easy to sweep under them. They will lose a ton of leaves over the winter.
