LONG POST ALERT BUT PLEASE READ…..Hello my plant friends., I am sending this to everyone as a precaution for when you purchase your plant babies. I love my pothos plants and have always been able to grow them without killing them. Well I could not figure out why one of my plants a (hanging basket) kept having issues was slowly dying. I repotted twice already before today. However on today I finally decided I was gonna shake away all soil on the roots and treat the roots before this repot. Needless to say I found out why my plant was not thriving. PLEASE TELL ME why did this nursery feel the need to support one of the vines to the main root ball with a rubber band…😡😡😡that’s what I get for going to a nursery I normally don’t deal with. I said all of that to say this EXAMINE your roots soon when your plant keep having issues. So from a hanging basket to now this🙄🥲

I have found the mesh bags and plastic cups of death buried with the roots on one alocasias. Some nurseries repot with the starter plant equipment intact. They can stunt the growth of the plants.

I’m finding that getting plants, supplies and equipment is very hard. I’m trying to shop local and develop a relationship but so far I’m still searching for a good fit.

I found a rubber band on my new spider plant just a week ago. It was tiny compared to the plant (N1 Garden Store - I am frowning at you!). I also found foam sponges on two of my plants. Fed up with this tbh, nearly all plants I bought in the last two months had some kind of problems starting with shoddy potting practices, to pests and fungal diseases. I am growing from the seeds now. Less stress.

It’s ridiculous we pay too much money for some of these plants. To only find out later that in the soil it’s something in the plant that will eventually kill the plant. This nursery was somewhere in Dallas I guarantee I will not be returning but I sure would love to leave a review. It’s sad when you can get healthier plants from big box stores and local grocery stores 🙄

Exactly! I tried to do otherwise but got my zonals from a BIG grocery chain. They look healthy but I will surely look at the roots harder from now on. I usually barely peek because I don’t want to hurt anything.

Yeah when I repotted my Chinese evergreen it ended up being 3 little plants all in their own net baskets rubber-banded together 😫 glad I was able to save them from that
