My zz is super tall, I know it’s time to possibly repot bc I don’t think the stems should be that high from the pot lol (ignore the repot history, I accidentally edited for the wrong plant but is this one ready?)

You would have to look at the root ball rather than the side of the plant’s leaves/stems. From my ZZ when he had grown this spring, I looked at his roots and ended up leaving him in the same pot because they hadn’t grown so much deep, but they are kinda thick.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll have to check the root ball. Just wanted to be sure because the stem is long and she’s growing really tall. I’ve only repotted her once and have had her for three years.

Concur with Fuey. Growing tall doesn't mean the roots support a repot. You may consider a chop & prop to replant propagations into the pot and make it fuller rather than "leggy."

repotting concerns the roots, not the stems. if you're worried about legginess i've heard zz plants are easy propagations. just chop & put the new stems in water, you'll have roots in a month or two.

I’m sorry but I disagree. Stem cuttings from ZZ plants take about a year to develop. They need to grow a rhizome and roots. I’ve tried and researched why it was taking so long.

Agree with phil. I’ve also heard they like to be pretty root bound in their pots. Like they like it snug
