Looking for suggestions for a plant to suit this spot in my guest toilet (powder room): - small north-facing window (and I live in a Northern European country), so it gets light but not much direct sun (it is nighttime in the photo) - window ledge space is only 40 cm high (15,5”) - width and depth are about 50 cm (20”) So the plant can spread out (but not hang), just can’t grow very tall. It stays reasonably warm year round in this bathroom, but not much extra humidity as no bath/shower, and even the sink isn’t used a whole lot. I was successful with a fern, but it got too tall. Not successful with coleus. Recommendations?

A pothos, while very common, would be fine there. Maybe a variegated one, or another with a more unusual leaf pattern. Tons to choose from at a plant store and you can keep it small and compact or let it vine. They’re perfect for low light situations.

I was going to suggest a pothos, too. They adapt to just about any space, it seems. Low maintenance.

They do like to be misted, though.

That’s no problem, I mist all my plants (that need it).

They are very easy to propagate in water, too. Just don’t over water them. I lite mine dry out between waterings.

How about a Z Z Plant. Doesn't need a lot of light and for me they've been slow growing. Might work in your spot.

I do like these, but they generally grow up and I fear it would quite quickly get too tall

+1 for pothos or Philo Brazil, micans, ect. Anything that vines and can be easily trimmed should work

If you want something a little different, check out Callisa Pink Panther. It’s compact and can be trimmed as necessary. Depends on your light.

Ohh, that is super cute! Looks like a mini tradescantia. Not sure I’ve ever seen one here in Sweden, but I’ll keep a lookout as that’s a cutie!

A philodendron would be perfect, i suggest pink princess to add a pop of color, and a grow light to really brighten it up, but it’s not necessary!

Sadly, it is a small bathroom and the only electrical is across the room by the door, so no chance of a grow light. Don’t philodendron get quite big?
