I do not know what to do with my spider plants. The tips are always browning. What should I do?

Yes! For these and many tropicals the minerals/chemicals in tap water even filtered are no bueno and cause browning tips etc

I use reverse osmosis water only and my spider plant (Peter Parker) browns too. If the leaf turns yellow, I pull it…but this is him after having him for nearly a month.

Check the label of the bottled water before you buy it…it should say that it is that

I have a reverse osmosis system attached under my sink. It's one of the best life-improving investments I could recommend 🤓 endless drinking water on tap, the cleanest possible

Could it be too much? That’s the source of 90% of my problems and I bought some water indicator sticks on Amazon, which are pretty helpful.

A moisture meter with a ph gauge on it will help you. If you don’t have one, they are about $10-15, but make sure it has the ph gauge. The ph should be between 6-7 for spider plants. If the acidity is getting lower than about 5.5 you will start to see some of the brown ends, pale coloring, lack of fullness, etc. Your soil is often more acidic due tap water or too much peat in the soil mix. If it is too acidic, you can amend the soil with a little garden lime and limit the use of tap water. Know that the garden lime takes a month or so to change the ph. It won’t be a fast change—very gradual.

I am seeing improvements slowly by switching to distilled water & adjusting the pH to 6 before watering. It can be a hassle but the plants are responding favorably.
