This plant confuses me. She is an alocasia planted in leca and rocks with some sphagnum on top (probably the sphagnum is too moist, and I will be removing it). She sprouted a new leaf, and she’s been very happy in this setup for about 1.5 months. Then a couple days ago this leaf on the right started dying. I rotated the plant to give her a bit more light. I have not watered this plant in a while on purpose, because it has water in the reservoir below the rocks, and you can see the roots growing in that direction. Why has my plant been happy for so long and then poof, one leaf calls it quits?

possibly nutrient deficiency. do not underestimate the hunger of these beasts!!! my alocasias all get a splash of fertilizer with every watering.

They will kill off an old leaf to support a new one if its not getting enough food from the soil. Let it yellow completely and then you can cut it off.
