After a few weeks of buying gallons of distilled water for my plants I decided to switch to using H20 conditioner. This one for aquariums was recommended. Only problem is it's formulated to treat massive quantities of water (50 gallons per cap). The smallest quantity easily measured treats 10 gallons. I probably managed to eyeball halving that for my 1 gallon jug. So my question is, if I'm "over treating" the water by a little is that harmful?

The problem may be that chlorine and chloramine are not usually the culprits. From my limited research, many plants such as calatheas are sensitive to the lime in the water, and maybe a few other minerals. But many people use a faucet mount filter. That removes the chlorine and most minerals. This is from I’ve read in my research. I use distilled for all my plants. We have a household softener and a complete RO system so just saying it’s not from my own experience.

Hey, I'm not actually having problems with my plants I just want a more economical & efficient solution to buying gallon jugs. I looked into a filter but would require I replace my faucet which is not compatible with those systems.

Yeah many new faucets are to designer looking. Ours would be a problem also.

Exactly. Mine has the removable nozzle/spray which I actually use a lot. If I had a bigger place I'd do the under cabinet reverse osmosis set up but again, doesn't work for my setup.

This is what I purchased from Amazon to treat my water and you only fill up the top cap full to pour in a small watering can..

This is effectively the same thing as Prime.

I use a different brand for fish and plants and I have “over-treated” without harm, but look for a different formulation in future—the math seems like a hassle 😜

It can be a little expensive but sometimes I purchase the cheap distilled water in stores specifically for certain plants as well as use the stress coat. The bottle is like $10 on Amazon

I use stress coat for my fish so I have it on hand. Literally only a few drops per gallon of water is all you need. I bought a bottle a year ago, use it for my fish PLUS my plants , and I still have plenty. Btw, do you have filtered water from your refrigerator? I ' ve also used a Britta filter, though the capacity can be small.

Yeah, I considered the Brita route but it doesn't filter out fluorine & can raise sodium content in the water. Honestly, I'm probably overthinking my Prime choice. Clearly a lot of people are using the aquarium solution route-I probably just need to get a dropper and use that rather than the cap.

I used stress coat, but this is cheaper and removes the heavy metals, etc.
