Is the soil staying wet? That can cause yellowing. Too alkaline water can also. Check to see that the soil is aerated too, they don't like compact soil usually.

The other could be the water itself. If where you got it were using a specific type of treated water or rain water maybe?

The roots are definitely the key! Stores usually have the soil too wet. It will also go through an adjustment period due to the change of environment or a repot.

If you wish to save your plant since it’s sitting in water and it’s the beginning phase of root rot. wait till the top inch is brown as a paper bag. If you have a fan facing your plant / and your room is about room temp. It may be keeping the soil moisture from drying. And cooling it rather than drying and building mildew. You can get a bag of your preferred soil, Mush the sides of your plants pot like your rolling dough in your hands . And don’t forget to push the bottom out/ Then tilt your plant downward where your palm is protecting the stem and let it rest on your hand. Pull the cover off and gently move your plant to your cleaned potting. You could also invest into a 3-1 moisture PH meter , from Lowe’s as little as 14 bucks. Since we aren’t in Stone Age anymore. Good luck, 🍀 happy holidays .
