Good morning everyone ☀️ I just want some tips on how to improve the environment of my plant babies and create a thriving home for them. It’s just that lately, I’ve been experiencing a hump in taking care of my plants. Any tips are deeply appreciated, thank you and have a nice rest of your day 🥰🪴

Just so you guys know, I have a Dwarf Hawaiian Umbrella tree, a Money tree, an Echeveria Succulent, a Mini Monstera, a Chinese Evergreen, and a Golden Pothos. Sorry about not highlighting that

Focus on the little joys of new growth or flowers. Use failures as learning experiences and know we all have them too

If plants in general or a couple plants specifically stress you, find them a new home. It needs to be fun

I would watch some informational videos about each plant to grow your knowledge and enthusiasm for them. The more I learn about each type the more invested I become in their wellbeing. When you can see how healthy and big they can become, how pretty the flowers are and the propagation possibilities, it can renew your interest. Then when you have a bunch you can give them away to friends and talk to others about them in real life. Also consider joining a local plant society. I went to a carnivorous plant society presentation and am so excited to keep growing mine and discuss progress at the next meeting.

Great advice. Is it ok to suggest someone who I really like to learn from (other than planta friends of course) ?

Tanner the planter is just simple and to the point but I think great advice. The lady on growing joy with Maria is super upbeat and quirky that you gotta love her.

Avai, I agree with JD. He has offered great suggestions! I suffer from bouts depression, anxiety and ADHD. This happens to me more often than I would like. Most plants are resilient to our times when we are in a funk. Talk to them and let them know that you are sorry, but you ARE BACK. 🎵🫶🏽💚💯Focus on the joy they give you. Even when they are recovering from our hiatus, they are teaching us about them. Watch for changes and rest assured they need you and you need them. Thank you for your inquiry. This help both you and us like you. Happy growing, and feel better soon.

As someone who’s had to find creative ways to make herself do things, I have a bit of advice. 1. Cultivate a relationship with your plants. Give them names, personalities, and talk to them even when you’re not taking care of them. If you start to see them as little lives and friends then you might want to take care of them more 2. Positive association. Don’t give yourself a treat after you take care of plants, but allow yourself to have something special while you take care of plants. Find a podcast, TV show, movie, or music that you really like, and only listen/watch it when you’re taking care of plants. That way you want to take care of them, and don’t want to just get it over with. Soon your brain will associate taking care of plants with the thing you like, and you’ll enjoy taking care of plants without the thing, because it feels like a privilege instead of a chore. I really hope this helps!

And also make sure not to beat yourself up about skipping a day or two, or a ton 😅😅 if you make it a big deal, you’ll want to do it even less. Treat it as a victory when you do get around to doing it!

Try to remember what sparked your interest in plants. I started w houseplants bc my daughter was interested. Now it’s something we can talk about together and shop together And when I propagate something, she’s the first person I ask if she wants it. She doesn’t have much space so now I’ve found a few other people in my life to give them to and connect with
