So I just got this new orchid from Trader Joe’s and I’m not very familiar with Orchids, should I repot this one? It seems very root bound but I just want to check first.

I repotted mine when it looked like that
0 Me gustaDefinitely looks like it could use some more room. Please repot it in something specifically made for orchids, such as an Orchid Mix or Orchid Bark, as the plant is epiphytic and needs a very well-draining substrate to survive. I know Espoma makes an Organic Orchid Mix. You can probably find it at a local plant nursery or Ace Hardware. As for a pot, if you can find a clear one, or a larger plastic one with plenty of drainage holes, that should work just fine 👍 good luck!
4 Me gustaThank you so much
1 me gustaNo problem! 😉👍
0 Me gustaThere’s a group here on Planta called “The Orchid Oasis”. I’m sure there’s plenty of people there that would be happy to answer any questions you may have for caring for your new orchid 🌺
2 Me gustaThose are arial roots. Repotting wouldnt do anything for those. They hep the plant absorb nutrients so they cant be covered
