Help please…. I’m so scared. I want to propagate my monstera but I don’t want to kill it. I don’t have a green thumb at all but I’ve managed to keep Monte alive!!! I love him and he’s part of the family. So, can y’all tell me if I’m cutting in the right place and tell me how to do this.

Yep that's where you'd cut! Leave the cutting out to calluses for a few hours and then put it in water. Change the water when it's nasty and just leave it be

I agree, that's the right spot. You can propagate in water or you can also propagate in soil. I would let it dry for more than an hour though maybe overnight. Then dust it with a little rooting hormone and plant it. With that shape, you would not be able to put it too far down in the soil which is fine but you may need to give the top portion support until it grows roots and becomes more established. I know water propagation is common and it works but I prefer to propagate directly into the soil because I'm lazy and I don't have to move it into a pot.

Off topic question: where did you get that moss pole? Looks really good

Amazon. You can make it bigger as you need. It goes to ten feet. I love it.

I will in the morning when I can get back on my computer on my husband’s Amazon account. I’m so sorry. I’m disabled and can get out of bed on my own, or I would.

They grow easily. Currently have three. Have given three away. All of them came from one cutting my daughter gave me about two years ago.

This is a totally fine way to prop and it sounds like you’re being very conscientious, so I’m sure it’ll go well. Something to consider for next time: look up air layering. It’s a little more work but tends to go faster, and it’s so satisfying when you get all those new roots.
