Hey all, I’m pretty new to plants but I wanted to show off the little guys I grabbed the other day and introduce them! (Sorry it’s a long one) Haworthia - Spike is an a**hole. Actually refuses to turn brown, let alone die. Ended up stabbing me 5 times in the first few hours. Identifies as a cactus. Echeveria - Tina (yes she’s named after the borderlands character) is small but mighty. She’s had a time of it. She was in with a few other succulents when I got her and was NOT lookin too hot. She’s doing a little better but still recovering. She resilient though. Polka dot plant - Pinky is still a mystery. She’s obviously gorgeous but hasn’t shown very much personality yet. Was very root bound when I got her but she’s repotted and seems to be thriving? Idk, she kinda just chills on her shelf. Rex Begonia - I know I shouldn’t pick favorites… but it’s hard not to when Galina is in the room (named after “Red” Reznikov iykyk). She’s a bad b*tch, VERY dramatic ofc but she’s the center of attention and knows it. She wilts if I breathe wrong though lol. Still trying to find her “sweet spot” in my house bc I don’t have a ton of window options and she HATES the grow light and she’s still pretty sick from when I bought her. If you have any tips or recommendations or comments on these guys feel free to share. I’ve done a lot of research but tips from other plant parents is always helpful. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.

the first doesn't look like haworthia to me, seems more like lace aloe. stores often mix them up. haworthias are generally not sharp.

Omigod thank you! Yeah bros very pokey and solid like an aloe. Both this app and the store had it labeled as Haworthia and it looked right from pics so I just went with it lol

Tips: don't get water anywhere in the center/in between the leaves of the aloe. They can very easily trap water there, stagnate, and rot. Begonias also like thier leaves to stay dry because the fuzz on those can trap water.
