Hi everyone I'm new to the group. I'm a new mommy to this spider plant and having plants at all. All your advice is greatly appreciated. I've read the reason why the leaves could be browning but idk? Any thoughts on why the leaves are bending and how I can I take care of it so it's beautiful and healthy 💚

With mine, I’ve noticed that the plants don’t mind more water than you might think. That’s usually the culprit when those brown ends show up. It could also be aging leaves.

Yes this is definitely a possibility as well. Some people act like you can let them be dry for a long time, and while they might bounce back when you water them they pry will show signs. But like I said, some of mine have them and they get watered as soon as they dry out so sometimes I think it just happens.

Brown tips are very normal for spider plants. It might help to use something other than tap water but i use filtered and some of mine still have brown tips. Water when the soil is dry. Lots of people use skewers to test if its dry, but I don't all the time. It is pry the most reliable method tho. Stick a skewer in the soil all the way down to the bottom of the pot, and leaves it for about ten minutes. When you pull it out it should be dry most of the way down, maybe just a touch damp towards the end. Fertilize once a month during the spring and summer. They don't need as much light as some plants but they will not thrive in low light. Keep it within a few feet of a window or a grow light. They will do fine in regular potting soil, but like most plants, they prefer a better draining mix. Also spider plant leaves naturally bend, so its nothing to worry about. Unless they are actually bending to the point of breaking. Then its pry rough treatment.

Thank you, can I ask what kind of fertilizer should I use and does that fertilizer work for most plants? I have 3 others

I use superthrive foliage pro for all my plants. I've been doing a quarter teaspoon per gallon of water.

I'm thinking about going up to half a teaspoon come spring...but I might end up with fertilizer burn so I'm not gonna recommend it until I know for sure its fine.

Spider plants are weird. Their thick roots can weave a basket around the soil and block the skewers used to test for moisture. Plus, the skewer can damage the thick roots leaving them susceptible to bacterial infections. I recommend removing the pot if the skewer is blocked. Also, better to go too dry with spider plants than to overwater. Their roots hold a lot of water. I use standard Miracle Gro blue crystals that I dilute and add SuperThrive plant vitamins to it. Lighting is crucial. Bright east sun or a grow light helps a lot.
