Hey. I have two questions-1. Is the grow light too close to it and 2. Why are some fronds turning brown? Please don’t say it needs to go outside because that’s not an option.

It needs to go outside... jk!!! 😅 I always listen to my plants and get my grow light as close as possible until they start to drop from the intensity, or heaven forbid, they burn a little. Then I move it back an inch or too. That being said, ferns brown... from everthing I know about them... its a part of their alternative lifestyle... not sure it matters what you do in that regard...

have you touched it much? some ferns are a little sensitive to being over-handled and can brown from that! but like the other plant pal said, ferns just brown sometimes! i have two next to each other and one is far browner than the other just because that’s how he’s decided to be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I rarely touch it except to check the soil

based on where the leaves are browning then i’d say it’s just normal fern behavior, but i’m also not a fern expert i’m working with my first ones this year and can just speak to my own research. wishing the best for you!

I struggle with ferns as they like to be kept very moist, and I typically underwater. I do have a few that I keep in self watering pots, and they do quite well.

Yea I’ve been procrastinating on getting a new pot cuz the one it’s in has a crack on the side. I just dread having to remove and repot it.

I have a great self watering hanging basket from Amazon. Might be worth checking out. If you’re not keeping it hanging, I have rigged my own by using a deeper cover pot and just adding a cotton string through the holes of the nursery pot.

I find that mine prefer soaking in water when they get dry rather than top water. But brown leaves are part of the life cycle.
