Any advice for this Maranta Fascinator? I’ve had him for just over a week now, came out of the delivery box with that lean. I figured it’d straighten up pretty quick so popped in a trellis to help it. A friend suggested that was a bad idea so I took it out again, however it doesn’t seem to be willing to grow upwards. Should I stake it or just give it more time?

They’re viners, not climbers, so I don’t think you can make it grow upwards because climbing is not part of their normal behavior.

right exactly! maybe it needs more light? my maranta gets dramatic if it’s in too dark of a room so i try to make sure it gets some filtered or indirect light

It’s most likely propagated from the side of a larger plant. The new smaller leaves should fill in the middle and if the larger leaning leaves bug you they can be cut off. Also face it the way you want it to grow

I do not recommend cutting off any leaves and especially not the bigger leaves like the previous comment states. Those are the newer leaves and them being bigger means they produce more nutrients for the plant. This plant isn’t leaning, it grows outwards horizontally or down. It’s trying to orient itself for optimal growing conditions.

Thanks hun I clearly didn’t do my research 🤦‍♀️ I’d no idea they are vines so the trellis is out & I’ve made space for a good stretch out 👍
