The pink is fine. It's probably temperature or light related. You have a Thanksgiving cactus. They grow in trees so they like well draining soil. Although they are a cactus they do not like overly dry conditions. I have found the planta app timing to be accurate. For light they're fairly versatile would prefer medium to bright indirect light.
0 Mi piaceThank you! I never knew to take mine out of the cover pot!! Maybe it will improve now!!
1 mi piaceThank you!!!!!!!!!!
0 Mi piaceAlso, make sure you take it out of that cover pot when you water it.
0 Mi piaceI like to let it totally dry out between waters. Mine is not very picky and likes to bloom every couple months! Fertilizer in June and December, and I find if it turns slightly gray/droopy it's not the end of the world and is just it's way of telling you it's sad. Can be propagated from places where one leaf grows two leaves out of the tip. I have it on a high shelf and it makes a great trailing plant!
2 Mi piaceI agree about the graying foliage but I try to not let mine get this unhappy but it can definitely recover.
0 Mi piaceHere’s my 3 yr old. I have her in a self watering pot in my office window that gets full sun. The first two years I only got a couple blooms. She wasn’t happy in moderate sunlight. You can see her roots in the water as well. This year, I got flowers from October until February! Pressing the flowers and am going to make coaster for my coworkers and I. These pots are great for liquid fertilizer as well. Good luck!
2 Mi piaceYou have a beautiful plant. You may find that as it ages, it becomes thin in the center. You can avoid this by giving it an all around trim every couple of years.you do this by selectively cutting many branches at the desired depth. Make the cut in the center of a pad. This stimulates central growth.
1 mi piaceAlso, what direction does your window face? I will guess north or east as south or west direct sun sounds too strong for Thanksgiving cactus. Did I guess right?
0 Mi piaceUsually you twist and break at the joint for propagating. You are saying to be sure to cut some in half with a blade, to better prompt central growth?
0 Mi piaceActually the window is south facing :) my cat took care of trimming her last year that’s why she is in my office haha still giving her time to heal
