Have you repotted it? Is that the original soil? I know this app can help you with directions on lighting and watering and things like that. It just looks like it just needs a fresh start.

No I haven’t reported it or changed the soil. Thank you so much for your help!

The brown crispy leaves aren’t going to recover. Personally I would get rid of and prune the plant. Check the roots and pot into fresh soil and downsize the pot.

I just trim off the crispy part not the whole leaf.

Agreed. That way, there’s more leaf surface to help bring it back to life, then you can trim the whole leaf later on to make look how you want.

My prayer plant was having the same issue, calatheas are usually sensitive to high amounts of lime in tap water. I had to get a water filter to water them and they are doing a lot better!

I use distilled water for my lime sensitive plants. Thankfully I don’t have a lot of them, otherwise it can get expensive purchasing for them all; or rain water.

Calatheas also like high humidity. They are so finicky that I left it when I moved 😅

Whenever you see a calathea get crispy leaves, low humidity is most often the reason why. They like high humidity and having moist soil. You could try putting it around a bunch of other plants (transpiration increases humidity), getting a humidifier, or failing those, putting under glass. My calathea loves being in my mini-greenhouse.

I’ve seen people have success by putting a large glass cloche over their Calathea. I ended up transferring mine to water because I was so fed up with it and I figured I couldn’t make things worse. She is very happy now and is putting out four new leaves. So you could always try that too.
