My plants

I hydrangea doesn’t look good at all this year. Should I cut it back down to the roots this fall and allow new growth. Usually it’s very full. This is what it looks like last year. And this is what it looks like this year. Any suggestions

Plants are like hair. Even if you cut it off, it’ll grow back. I would cut it back down to the roots.

Is it the hydrangea that needs the old wood for next spring or were these stems all new this year? I would make sure it isn’t the first variety before you chop🌞
