Hello to all, I have a Elephant Ear that's a good 4 feet tall. For the past couple of years the petioles will bend towards the floor at the stalks. This happens on a very consistent basis. The petioles & leaf will eventually die off. What would cause this? My guess would be the plant is so tall with long petioles with large leaves, the plant isn't able to sustain the weight. I don't recall this happening when the plant was smaller. Any ideas. THANKS.

They are old leaves, so they are in the process of dying off and not a weight bearing problem, because all the other leaves are completely fine and hold their weight quite well.

I would agree with you, though the petioles & leaves are very green when they bend. It can like 3 weeks for the leaves to start dying.
