    It could be rotting and the base

    It is actually natural for the plant to turn a bark brown towards the base. If it should feel soft or turn blackish- there is an issue, probably over watering.

    Make sure to ignore Planta’s recommendation for watering this one. It can easily go 6+ months without being watered
