Hi everyone! I’m moving house tomorrow, and I was wondering if anyone had any good tips for plant transportation? :) (This plant isn’t coming, I just thought it was cute!)

    I've been researching this very thing because we're planning a move in November and I'm in New England so it will be pretty cold and I've got 230 plants. 🤦🏼 Need a few more details. How many do you have? What sizes? Are they going in a car or a moving van? Any hanging ones?

      Probably it will just be these, with a smallish spider plant and inch plant

      That's not too bad. The only ones I would really worry about would be the Venus flytrap and the orchid because they're picky. I'd put whatever you can in shallow open boxes to keep them from tipping. If it's chilly where you are I would try and insulate them the best I could. I'm going to have to get a clothes rack to put my hanging plants on but it doesn't seem like you have that many. Don't panic if you lose a leaf or two in the first couple of weeks. They'll need to adjust. Good luck with your move! PS remember not to let the Venus fly trap dry out.

      Just looked at the list again and noticed you have a Calathea. If she looks bad for a little while after the move don't panic. They like to have tantrums.

    I like to use a large storage tub , the high sides help protect plants. I pack the pots together tightly so that they don’t move around. If necessary I use rags or towels to pack around them so there’s little movement and rattling. I like the clear tubs so I can see what’s going on in there. I leave the lid off; usually they ride in the front seat. I’ve been known to belt them in to keep them from flying if I hit the brakes hard. They’re the last thing loaded in the car before I leave and the first thing out so that they’re not sitting in the weather. I did manage to burn the leaves of a parlor palm that leaned against a hot window too long. I drive for extended visits with my family (12 hours away) and the plants go with me. This method has worked for me a few times.

    Thank you very much! That’s good to know about the window - I’ll make sure they aren’t touching it! Also I love the idea of taking your plants on holiday 😅
