Hiiii! š I am new to the game. I recently got this gorgeous Dumb Cane & Iām looking for tricks to help her thrive! I recently repotted her. She gets a lot of indirect sunlight during the day and occasional reflection from a grow light.
What a beautiful plant! Dieffenbachias are pretty easygoing once you get their watering figured out. Bright, indirect light is perfect, and youāll want to let the top inch or two of soil dry before watering again. Since youāve recently repotted her, Iād give her some time to settle in and avoid overwatering. Also, just educationally, the common name āDumb Caneā has some troubling associations. The plant was historically used to punish enslaved people because its toxic sap can cause painful swelling and temporarily prevent someone from speaking. The term can also be considered ableist, so many prefer calling it by its botanical name, Dieffenbachia. Most people have no idea about that history, so I just wanted to share! š
