Slightly different post to the usual ones on here- how many people have planta premium and would suggest it as a must have persay? Curious about upgrading but want to get opinions from other people- TIA!🤍 Edit: I’m still learning about my plants and how to care for them so getting all the info on them is my main reason for downloading this app and now looking into the premium.

I barely use the identification for sickness but I love the grow light options for your plants. The grow lights were the main reason I got premium tbh.

I just looked it up and it also gives you personalized waterings schedules which I didn’t not know but I think they are helping.

What does the grow light feature entail? Just kinda advice on the use of them? I looked into getting a grow light last winter but ultimately ran out of time before spring came lol

All the grow light feature does is updating your schedule to have a grow light instead of a window. It isn’t much and basically has the same mechanics as a window. I use a grow light year round, any brand is fine just I wouldn’t get the weird colored ones. For most plants I keep the light about 2 ft - 6 inches away from them. They also run on a timer so are pretty easy, you just need to plug them in. I would recommend Planta premium if you really like your plants and see yourself using the features to help them. I really need premium because I have 60 plants but it really depends on if you think Planta premium will really help you.

As a first time serious plant owner I love it. Light meter is great, love the reminders in one place! Diagnosis feature is also pretty awesome if you have a bunch of plants but don’t want to do a bunch of research!

Thanks! I think I might get the premium once payday kicks in lol- it seems like it would be super helpful for me

The watering/mist/repot reminders sold me to be so honest 😣 keeping them all in one place does wonders! And if you update enough it will adjust your water schedules based on your notes!

I use the app for scheduling watering for my 50+ plants. Planta I feel is not a reliable source for plant health issues nor a good source for plant identification. I use Google camera for better plant identification & plant care info. This is much more accurate.

Thank you! I only have 4 plants, and take care of two of my family member’s plants- so i only really look after 7 plants. I haven’t thought of using google camera- thanks!

Personally, I researched for a new app and got the premium directly. I am coming from another app and was looking for one that was reliable for watering reminders and would be consistent (previous app tend to over compensate) If I had 25 or less plants, I might not have bought premium but at over 200, I need those reminders! The plant ID is not super reliable and personally the light meter is medium in terms of accuracy but I love the app overall.

Thanks! I usually keep the little tabs telling me basic details of my plants when i buy them and store them in a little box so i remember what is what, I’m still figuring out watering and fertilizing schedules and such for my plants, and I have plans to get more plants because i love taking care of them lol. Thanks for your advice!

What would you recommend in place of the light meter? Some of my plants seem to be rather picky about light and I am yet to find the right spot for it as my house is rather open to light in terms of windows and glass doors.

Oh absolutely, I do keep track as well but usually scanning is faster on this type of app (if precise hahaha) I transitioned to this app maybe a week ago and it is already adjusting on my watering schedule. It does take a bit of keeping track but it’s already paying off. And at the end of the day, dividing the price per month, it’s cheaper than buying a new plants so if it avoids me killing one, I made my money back! As for lights I personally use grow lights but the reason i say it isn’t reliable, is that it’s telling me it’s shaded even when directly pointing at plants under grow lights. (Grow light is at a proper distance based on the specs) Which does slightly scare me that it’s under playing the light the plant is receiving and you could end up with a burned one. But if you are using windows (which I do for a few of my bigger ones), I favor morning sun windows instead of afternoon if it’s a plant that requires no direct sun.

I have premium only because I have 100 plants and need the fertilizer reminder as well. Otherwise I would probably just stick to free as the diagnosis one seems to say the same things the couple times I’ve tried it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've had Planta premium for a few years now and I can honestly say I haven't kept up with what's free and what's paid lol I keep premium because I can afford the $35/year to maintain my current standard of plant care. Mainly the app yelling at me to take care of my plants and being able to track all of a plant's previous care

I’m in Australia so it’s like $53AUD but considering that covers a whole year it’s definitely tempting

I don’t have premium but I’d suggest waiting for Black Friday or around that time because I feel like they do a decent discount every year

I have it and I won't renew. Doesn't get plants correct, diagnosis feature is always give it water or something along those lines. Not real cultured advice. I get more knowledgeable help from these groups more than anything. It does help me decide if I want to tackle a plant that may be above my skill level and if it is going to be safe for animals.

Thanks for the advice! I’m still a little on the fence about it so I’m just gonna leave it be while I keep weighing my options out
