My monstera’s are my happy place ❤️
How do you recommend that I separate my big one into a couple smaller plants?
1 j'aimeHi Amanda all of these plants I got them separate, I didn’t have to separate them but when I do separate any of my plants I follow these steps I found in YouTube plating101. I hope it helps. Before you begin: Water the plant: about a week before you plan to separate it to make the soil easier to work with. Step-by-step process: 1. Prepare the plant: Gently take the monstera out of its pot. If it's stubborn, you can use a butter knife to loosen the edges. 2. Expose the roots: Gently massage and shake the root ball to loosen the old soil and expose the root system. You may need to rinse the roots in water for a better view. 3. Identify natural divisions: Look for distinct stems and root connections to find natural points to separate the plants. 4. Gently separate: Tease the roots apart with your fingers or a chopstick. Be patient and gentle to avoid severe root trauma. 5. Use a tool if necessary: For very tangled roots, use a clean, sterilized knife or scissors to cut through the intertwined sections. 6. Plant the divisions: Place each new division into its own pot with proper drainage and a chunky soil mix. 7. Care for new plants: Water the newly separated plants and position them in an area with bright, indirect light.
