I recently tried using Leica in my water Monstera and it rotted all of the roots. They are all completely gone so I would check on it weekly to make sure they’re ok.

When plants are moved from soil to leca, they lose all of their soil roots and have to grow water roots. So it’s normal for the old roots to fall off. It’s usually recommended to put the plant in just water first to let them grow water roots, then move to leca

It’s been grown in water yes, it’s my water monstera never been in soil. I added leca for support in the vase and my roots rotted.

Should I just try water first for the alocasia?

Were they both in soil before? Why did you decide to move them? If they were in soil before and you moved them to water, they could just be stressed out but I would definitely remove the leca.

Good luck! My Alocasia dragon scale is dead because I tried to move it to leca so I agree with the previous comment. Watch them closely for root rot.
