Has anyone used a grow light bulb in a regular lamp and then placed the lamp on a timer? I’m wanting to put a plant by my couch but it doesn’t get a lot of indirect light there so I was going to put a bulb in my lamp.

You can use any lamp where the bulb points down at the plant. Pendant lights or arched floor lamps work well.

3 Mi piaceHi, I use grow bulbs in desk lamps and floor lamps too. All are plugged into timers. It works great! My biggest word of advice is to ensure the bulb is less than or equal to the maximum allowed wattage of your lamp eg. If you have a 35W bulb, you should not put it in a desk lamp that can only handle a maximum of 20W. Other than that, have fun!
3 Mi piaceI use grow lights with shop light fixtures I bought from the hardware store. They are connected to Kasa wi-fi smart timers I bought from B&H Photo online. Be sure your wattages are compatible to avoid electrical hazards. I consult my friendly electricians because I have an old house that needs breakers replaced about every two years and I’ve lost friends in house fires. I set the Kasa timers to run the lights 12 hours a day. I control and monitor the timers through the Kasa app on my phone. They are compatible with iOS, Android, Siri, Alexa, and Google. Select the model compatible with your device. I will add more wi-fi timers when I bring my plants inside for winter. This configuration was easy to set up and works well for me.
