Hi plant people! I’m using a self watering (wick system) pot for the first time with the Moon Valley Pilea I bought at Walmart. It, and the soil, were pretty dry at first. I’ve filled the reservoir about 3 times and it’s emptied every time. Now the soil is pretty damp…is Marvin that thirsty? Or do I need to not worry about keeping the reservoir filled?

This is where I run into the issues with self watering pots. I'd love to use them, but would it just be plants that love high humidity and need to be moist all the time that they work for? From what I've read, every plant I own likes to dry out to some degree or another before being watered again. Or do u let the reservoir stay dry in-between watering?

I got similar questions! But I’m pretty sure Marvin came in this type of pot because he would love it…

I've had snake plants come in self watering pots and they hate being moist. I just take the water out of the reservoir if I continue to use the pot. I think the pilea is a plant that likes to stay a bit damp.
