I bought some water level meters to help me better keep track of my watering. You supposedly stick them in the pot and it will tell you when you water. I put only 3 in at first in three separate pots to make sure I'm doing it right. But they haven't moved down from when I watered them. Does anyone know anything about these and if just putting them in like I did is correct? A picture below shows what they look like.

    Stick finger 1 inch into pot. If it’s dry, water. Let the pot drain completely. That’s all you need.

      You are absolutely right and the best method. I just lost my grip on sanity thinking about plastic stick would work. Thanks.

    I don't know anything about those but I just use a regular moisture meter that you stick in the soil when you're ready to water it. Works great!

    Those devices are not intended for soil. They have a floater in them. They are to be used in a semi hydro set up. I looked up the Amazon listing. Either the seller knows nothing about them or it’s an intended scam. It’s a very ambiguous and deceiving listing.

      You're most likely right. I put 3 into different pots that I had just watered and none of them moved up or down or sideways. Two weeks later they are still at the same spot. I really looked at them wondering what are they actually reading. The soil is packed around them and in the holes at their bottom. Waste of money. Going to return them ASAP.
