So I’m going off to college in less than two weeks, but I’m trying to pack all five of my plants to travel to my dorm. It’s about a three hour drive, and I’m worried about how to properly store them in order for them to stay in a healthy condition. I can easily carry my Haworthia in my lap, but my the other four are quite flimsy. How would I go about properly storing and transporting them?

I just moved about 40 plants yesterday and all of them made it - even my flimsy ones! I put mine in a box and filled in the empty spaces with dish towels, and then seat belted the box to a car seat :)

I did the same thing when I moved.

^^^Me too! 5-10 plants in a box with some towels for 27 hours in the car 😅

I moved about 30 of them 2400 miles about a month ago and only had one fatality due to putting the windows down but I just put them in a diaper box and other wooden boxes and packed garbage bags around the space in the bottom

Ooh excitiiiiing ☺️ I also went off to college with a haworthia! That was only 11 years ago 🥲😂 I still have it. It’s huuuuge now lol. It loved the super strong mid-day sun that my freshman year dorm got. A lot more than I did lol Everyone gave good advice. Basically, put them in something sturdy and fill the empty spaces with something soft. 3 hours is short enough that you won’t have to worry about temperatures or water. Safe travels and enjoy college! Don’t do anything your plants wouldn’t do, right? 😜

You have to get creative :) I only moved an hour away, but 0 fatalities to 100ish plants that day. I did have to brake suddenly and caught a spine to the knuckle.

I live 2 hours away from my boyfriend , and literally all I do is buckle them in and put a sweatshirt around them for stability and they’re very happy! I don’t let the car get overly hot or cold but that’s easy because nobody likes it too hot or cold anyways haha

But yes a crate with some cushion around the pots would be perfect!

Get them wedged in a box and put them in a footwell! They’ll be fine for the journey
