Starting my tissue culture journey!!
?
0 J'aimeThese are tissue cultures. They are basically replicas of other plants made in a lab. They have to be acclimated to ambient air because they are completely sterile. It is not always successful lol
0 J'aimeAre you getting TC for the first time? Or you mean you're going to start doing TC?
1 j'aimeIt’s my first time. I’ve been researching for months and I think I ready. These are reasonably priced and super rare so I’m kinda informed experimenting 😅
1 j'aimeAwesome! Yea it is super fun to watch them go from so tiny to the "normal" size
1 j'aimeLook up Plants In Jars on YouTube that's the acclimation I follow for fresh TC and it works everytime. I previously tried pon and some other mixes and it did not go well. I think the fungicide treatment is key too.
1 j'aimeAlso please don't follow orange lake nurseries protocol of just raw doggin the media with bare hands lol 😆 😂 🤣 use gloves, as sometimes there are still plant growth regulators present in the media. I just placed an order with them this week, so will see what I get.
1 j'aimeYea I wasn’t gonna 😅 everything else I saw says wait 5-7 days and use gloves, tools should be sterile etc.
0 J'aimeYea, at least 2 days for them to settle is ideal. They aren't the only ones that say that, it's so crazy lol. Especially when you see a few people acclimating, and the plant is still multiplying during the acclimation and they end up with a ton of tiny plants. Not just 1. I have 2 philodendron that multiplied a bit after, but nothing crazy. I'm going to actually try to do my own TC soon. It's really interesting.
1 j'aimeThat’s how I end up with 4 white princesses in one pot when I order from them lol that’s fine by me
0 J'aimeYea. Zero complaints 👌🏽
