Can anyone tell me what kind of plant this is? And why does it always drop branches and leaves when putting on a new leaf? Is it supposed to look like a tree?

Looks like a money tree
1 mi piacePachira aka money plant. If you want a fuller look, you’ll need to remove its apical bud. At the very top of the stem there should be some green tissue where new baby leaves come out. That tissue releases a hormone that suppresses growth lower down and instead focuses the plant resources on going upward. If you remove it then pachira are pretty good about pushing out new leaves from lower on the stalk. After a month or so the apical bud will grow back, so cutting it doesn’t halt vertical growth; it just causes it to focus lower for a bit
2 Mi piaceI did some research and it looks more like a shefflera than a money tree. But I would like to know what others think!
