Hi, my plant is growing quite tall and it’s getting hard to provide the support it needs, and the bottom leaves have also been suffering because of this. Is this normal growth for this plant and i should just switch to taller trellises, or is there a way to help the growth be more widespread rather than just up?

This appears to be a White Princess Philodendron! Tho I could be wrong on that. Either way, she’s Beautiful. Yes, it’s pretty normal for a plant used to climbing trees to keep going up n up. A few things you can do. 1) cut top growth n root in water, then repot with orig. pot for bushier look n keep what you’ve got. 2) Shape her as she grows. This is what I am doing, going for a heart! See image. I know she’s thirsty right now. Ha! 3) Go with a taller trellis n consider a repotting with more of the weaker stem under soil, helps support the thicker growth on top. 4) Trim her back to workable height, & propagate the trimmings for brand new plants. The freshly cut area will eventually grow new. This may also allow for reshaping as a new goal. Good work!

Yes, this is normal growth for the plant! Philodendrons are climbing plants and do well with a sturdy trellis, moss pole, moss tower, or something along those lines.
