Hi everyone! I am looking for advice regarding moving indoor plant outside for the summer. This is something I have wanted to do for a while but am nervous to. Any tips on how to transition them outdoors safely such as temps, light, watering, etc. would be greatly appreciated! I will link the plants I’d like to move outside. Please let me know if these are good to go out or not. Thank you in advance 💕 - rubber plants (burgundy and elastica) - monstera (normal, Thai, and albo) - string of things (bananas, pearls, and turtles) - dieffenbachia - dracaena stripped x2 - some of my Pothos (many varieties)

Most of those can absolutely spend the summer outdoors, but the key is hardening them off slowly. Indoor plants can get sunburned just like people if they go straight from your house to full sun. I would start with like 3-6 days on a covered porch or in bright shade maybe with covered porch. Rubber Plants are are great outdoors in summer. Bright shade or morning sun only. Monstera love being outside in warm weather, but keep them in bright indirect light. Pothos usually thrive outdoors in bright shade and often grow much faster. Dieffenbachia does well outside in shade but avoid direct afternoon sun. For dracaena, bright shade is best as too much direct sun can scorch leaves.

Thank you so much!! So this is what my set up is looking like. The area were the plants are getting maybe an hour or two of early morning sun than shade the rest of the day. I’m thinking leave them here (going to bring them in at night for the first week and rain storms) for at least a week or two until the acclimate than gradually bring the monstera and rubber plants out about a foot or two so they will get an extra hour or two of direct sun light. Majority of this deck is shade by mid afternoon, so if I move plants that want more light outward a foot or two after about a week they will receive more direct light for a longer period than the ones against the house. Thoughts?

The string of banana plants are tricky and I would do AM sun only as too much rain can or intense PM sun can damage them. Of course, my go to is to always harden plants off of you plan to do this with any. But mine except the string of bananas has been fine!

I do this!!! My dracaena initially struggled but once it got use to the colder outside it started to really thrive! I’ve just bought it back in for winter but it absolutely works! My pothos didn’t cope outside but it’s the one plant that I’ve never had any luck with???

All of the strings of things, I would keep in the shaded areas. Mine do great closest to my house where there is the most shade. They dry out when placed in any sort of sun for me. But I’m in Florida, so that may be why they don’t do well in any sort of sun .
