Hey all! So I was watering my aloe Vera today in its nursery pot (which is in a cache pot for catching drainage) and realized that a root was growing out the bottom of the nursery pot! I just got it about two weeks ago and was wondering if I should keep it in its original pot for longer to acclimate or if repotting it would be healthier for the plant long term?

2 weeks should be okay to repot, but if it's still cold where you are i'd wait until the sun is warmer and out more. i have a plant with roots coming out the bottom of a cache pot as well and i'm waiting for warmer weather so it can feed itself and handle the switch better

I would leave it for now. Roots growing out is a clue that repotting may need to be done sooner than later, but it’s not a decision maker in and of itself. Sometimes roots just get an idea of their own and grow out, even with plenty of pot space. That said, don’t assume any plant arrives from the store/greenhouse in a ready state for long term. I have bought plants that were way overdue for new pots. The thing is, greenhouses do what they can to set people up for success, but plants just don’t stop growing. ;) If something sits on their shelves for a while before a retailer buys it, it may be overgrown before going home with you.

Okay great! Thank you all for the advice, it’s fairly warm here now but about to drop here soon with a weather system. Ah that makes sense, yeah it’s a fairly big little aloe, its leaves are about 6-12 inches now so I’ll wait a couple weeks and see how it’s doing :)
