Does anyone know what these spots are? They are slightly transparent, and as you can tell they are on a new leaf.

Fallowing! I have the same problem just ten times worse!
0 LikesI think it could be edema. Iām currently dealing with it on my raindrop peperomia that I got in the mail. It was potted in a very small 2in pot and I think that caused the leaves to try to absorb more water than it could handle. Essentially edema causes the plantās cells to burst from trying to absorb too much water, forming the transparent holes or bumps on a plant that typically start to turn brown after a few days. It isnāt a death sentence for your plant, though, if Iām right! Another sign of it can be leaves starting to curl and ābumpsā on the leaves.
4 LikesThe other leaves are curled and have small bumps on them, like this. What I did to treat it is repot it in fresh, dry soil (and a larger pot) and Iām currently letting it dry out for the next week or so until I see improvement. If it is edema, you shouldnāt cut the leaves off. That will only make the edema worse as the roots will send the water to more leaves.

Had this problem with my monstera for a while and i think your explanation solves the mystery, thanks Adrian
2 LikesHappy to hear it! In small cases your plant can come back, but Iām not sure if my raindrop peperomia is gonna recover, since itās on all but one of its leaves, but Iām keeping my fingers crossed. I bought mine off Etsy and it arrived this way cause it was in a 2in pot, so the soil was pretty much 90% the plantās roots to begin with. I didnāt water it. Iām just kinda bummed since she arrived that way. I was really excited to get her. š
1 LikeThank you so much for all of your information! I am fairly certain you are correct because there are other leaves that have those kinds of bumps as well. My plant is growing like a weed though, and he was probably in too small of a container for too long but luckily I replanted him in a bigger pot. Good luck on your plant!
2 LikesNo problem. And good luck with yours! Monstera are so beautiful. I hope yours recovers soon!
