Beautiful! Is this Krimson Queen? And yes let's, I would use a bigger trellis. Just be extremely careful of the new growth leaves because they fall off easy.

0 likesItâs a personal preference. It grows well on or off a trellis. Increase the trellis size if you have a place to put the finished product. I use bamboo u-shaped trellises for my slow growing hoyas. I typically use butterfly clips to loosely clip on the vines to a trellis. I avoid tightly wrapping vines around the structure because itâs difficult to unwind without damaging the plant. đȘŽđ

1 likeIâm newer to Hoyas, but I personally enjoy the look of letting them trail over the sides like other trailing epiphytes rather than using trellises. I definitely agree with the previous comments that itâs important to be careful and take your time with unraveling it, and not wrapping it too tightly on the trellis. My pubicalyx consists of 4 previously trellised Hoyas I rescued from Loweâs and combined to get a fuller look in less time, but given how full yours looks right now, it could turn into a really beautiful trailing plant if you want to give unraveling it from the trellis a try. Itâs absolutely up to the look youâre going for, of course, but hereâs a few of my Hoyas that donât use trellises for reference, if that helps you make your decision. đ (also your Hoya is absolutely stunning. My Carnosa is pretty young, but I hope it looks half as nice as yours someday.)
0 likesI think an easy way to help you decide would be to carefully remove it from the trellis and see how it looks without one until you can get a new trellis. If you donât like the look of it without the trellis, then youâre already halfway through the process of getting it set for a new one; and if you like it without one, you donât need to do much else. If thereâs a specific way that you want it to trail over the sides, I cut coated paper clips in half and use them to initially pin Hoyas Iâve removed from the trellis to gently train them to start trailing in a certain direction or overlap other branches for a fuller look up top, but I consider it a lot less maintenance than setting them up on a trellis and having to switch them onto new ones in the long run.
1 likeGood point. Thank you đ
