I won a scindapsus moonlight mint.. I haven't had the best of luck with scindapsus, though i own 2 in my collection. And hey! They're still alive. Any tips?

Oh wow!!!
0 LikesRight? I was shocked at the variation on the treubuii
0 LikesI'd never heard of scindapsus before 👀
0 LikesYou've probably seen them. The "normal" form was known as a Satin Pothos, until they reclassified the. Similar to the 'silver lady' she's holding above it
1 LikeYou've got such a great plant knowledge I got my first pothos when I found a cutting in the store and now it has rootss
1 LikeThat's awesome, i love growing something from barely anything. My first plant was an aloe that's forced on every child in my family when we get a home. I'm shocked it's still alive. I used to have a real bad black thumb. Unless it was outdoor gardening. But at that point the gods are helping you water hahahaha so it's basically cheating in WA.
1 LikeI treat mine just like my micans and pothos and haven’t had any issues! I did struggle at first keeping them under too strong of a grow light though. Great score 😭❤️
1 LikeHhmmm well mi micans and pothos are doing great. Maybe that's the issue I had with the satin, it was in the south window until I got fed up and chopped it down to just props. Which are away from the window and doing slightly better
0 LikesThis is the first Palmstreet live i attended for Steve's Leaves... I love ordering from them. And their live was fire! I got a few begonia I've been wanting, and way better colors than even their online drops
0 LikesI do better with pinnatum for whatever reason. I had to put them in a mix that doesn’t absorb water very well bc I’m an overwaterer. My micans is also in terracotta so it really tells me when it needs water. I have my scindapsus in a clear pot too so it helps a bit. I burned the crap out of my silver splash and cried a bit Oo im gonna check them out. I haven’t done a live yet on palm street. I’m trying to save money for the Seattle show though 😭
1 LikeCannot reccomend if youre trying to save money 😭 Oohhhh which one? The flower & garden this month or the Indoor plant Festival? I'm excited about that one. The classes sound great
1 LikeI'll have to keep those in mind. I'm already petrified of scorching with the mint. It's getting a chug of silica 😆
0 LikesThey get scorched very easily! I find mine like to stay evenly moist with a small dry window. Any time I let it dry out at all they shrivel. Indirect light all the way if it’s too much again Shriveledddd. Let me know how it goes I love my scindapsis and this one is stupid pretty
1 LikeI'm definitely concerned about burning with the minty white. I'll have to really keep an eye on it
1 LikeDo you have humidity on yours? I wonder if that’s why yours does better staying slightly moist? Just curious for my own care now 🤣
0 LikesI keep my plant room at 40%-60% humidity and 70-75 degrees. I think it’s just so warm with the temp and the grow lights that the soil gets dry faster and she probably needs a repot tbh. She sure loves the humidity tho! The new leaves are gorgeous since adding the humidity!
2 LikesUgh now you got me on a wishlist roll with more scindapsus lol. I have a scindapsus treubii moonlight and one of her leaves scorched touching an east facing window. But now that she’s 12 inches under a grow light for 12 hours a day she’s happy as a clam and pushing out shoots during winter. However, she loves to be pampered with a mini humidifier by her all the time. Also, it’s the easiest plant to tell for watering to me, the very sturdy thick leaves curl ever so slightly when it’s in need of watering. It came in a normal seed starting mix but I moved it to a chunky mix in a terracotta pot right away since it looked like it would stay too moist with how thick the roots were.
2 LikesRight?! I've been avoiding them because of the satin debacle, but man some of these cultivars are just 🤌🏼

Humidity! Humidity, humidity, humidity, and more humidity. Otherwise, you will get brown, crispy leaves. Also very well-draining soil. My first potting of S. treubii was doing great in succulent soil, but now I use an aroid mix it seems to like.
1 LikeDefinitely sounds like she'll be getting some cabinet space
0 LikesThat is so pretty and I suspect fairly rare. Since I have recommended this site often, perhaps you have looked at it. If not I think you would really like it. The ultimate care guide for variegated indoor plants (and how not to kill them) is a very informative article at lovethatleaf.com. I find many of their articles very informative. I haven't read all of them but it's definitely on my list of stuff to do.
1 LikeI have been there, yes. Yea, I believe they're the main ones working on this cultivar, I haven't seen it anywhere else yet
0 LikesOOOH! That one is beautiful! Sorry, no tips! I don't have a mint one. And mine is struggling, 😥.
1 LikeOh no. So far I put it in jail to keep up humidity, it's doing okay so far
1 LikeOh yeah! I have to look into that 5 gallon fish tank with clear lid you mentioned in another post!
