Anyone know what the white “stuff” is on my money tree? The plant mostly looks healthy but I just noticed this today so idk if its slowly dying. Google says mold but I don’t think so..or atleast I hope not. I have about 8 other plants in the same area and they don’t have this white stuff. Thanks

Your picture is a little blurry when zoomed in. I’m not sure if it’s your phone camera, or if Planta is lowering the resolution of the photos when they’re uploaded. In either case, it’s a little difficult to tell what I’m looking at. I would say 9/10 times I’ve seen white stuff on the surface of the soil, it’s mineral deposits from watering the plant. This does seem less likely in your case, as you’d probably have it on all of your plants and not just one. Do you water over the soil, or bottom water? What kind of water do you water with? The other 1/10 times it’s fungal. Could be mold, mildew, or something else. Fungi in soil aren’t inherently harmful to a plant, but their spores can be harmful to humans in some cases. Mildew growing on a plant’s leaves or stems can be harmful to the plant. What does the white stuff look like? Does it look like powder? Tiny hairs or spiderweb-like? Flaky?
